Harlem Book Fair on Long Island

Annually, since 2002, we bring noted authors, publishers, lecturers, performers and vendors to the book fair to celebrate literacy and literary endeavor. This year's event will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at the Freeport Recreation Center. The Harlem Book Fair on Long Island (HBF-LI) is an opportunity to share African American culture and tradition.

The children enjoy a set-aside area where they can enjoy the story-teller, face painter balloon sculptor, and games. They also have the opportunity to discuss their favorite books, or poetry. The focus of HBF-LI is to encourage the enhancement of reading and writing skills. There will be vendors of books, art, crafts, jewelry and other merchandise; musical entertainment; as well as panel discussions and workshops. Admission is free.
